Description

A five minute walk from the sea, the Tufted Duck is a modern boutique hotel next to the historic fishing village of St Combs. Just south of Fraserburgh and a forty minute drive from Aberdeen, the twenty bedroom hotel enjoys commanding views of the North East Coast of Scotland.

It is a place where the sea meets the sky and dramatic sunsets are just part of the daily rhythm. At certain times of the year, if conditions are right, it is possible to see the Aurora Borealis.

Having been extended and refurbished, this privately owned hotel offers stylish, comfortable accommodation which ranges from single rooms to Executive suites.
As well as a welcoming bar, the hotel has the panoramic Vue bistro. Both serve contemporary dishes made with fresh, locally sourced produce.

The hotel is dog-friendly and has kennel facilities. There is ample free parking.

The Tufted Duck is popular with local residents and visitors as a wedding venue.

Conventions, functions and weddings can be catered for in the Millburn and Strathbeg Suites while the Boatlea Ballroom can accommodate in excess of 200 guests.

Sea views

The rooms and suites have relaxed decor and warm wood furnishings with free Wi-Fi, work desk, TVs, DVD players, and hot drinks facilities, as well as room service. Some offer coastal or countryside views. All are en suite with showers and complementary toiletries.

Eat local

From a hearty Scottish breakfast to a relaxed three course dinner, the Tufted Duck offers a full range of meals. And plenty of snacks, coffees and cakes in between.

Whether you choose to eat in the bar or the Vue bistro, with its magnificent dune views, you can look forwards to the finest locally sourced produce.

From prime Fraserburgh haddock to Cullen skink and juicy sirloin steaks, there is a wide choice of appealing dishes on the restaurant dinner menu. Vegetarian options include the breaded brie wedges and potato gnocchi in a Cheddar and mushroom sauce.

Bar options include scampi, haggis bon bons, chicken tikka masala and the ever popular cheeseburger.

On Sundays, the carvery runs from noon to 8pm.

See & do

From bracing coastal walks to a round at the nearby Inverallochy Golf Club, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the stunning scenery around the hotel.
If you like wildlife watching, you will be spoiled for choice. Troup Head Nature Reserve has Scotland’s only mainland gannet colony. Or visit the Loch of Strathbeg. In winter, it is home to 20% of the world’s pink-footed geese population. Boat trips and sea angling expeditions are also popular.

With both a heritage centre and the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses, the busy commercial fishing port of Fraserburgh will repay a visit.

Of course, the shopping opportunities of Aberdeen are less than an hour away.

Not that you need to stray far from the hotel. Throughout the year, the Tufted Duck runs a lively programme of tribute nights, festivals, balls and murder mysteries.
