Landmark hotel on the Isle of Bute
Glenburn Hotel conjures up all the Victorian charms of the vintage seaside town of Rothesay while offering up-to-date comforts too.
This elegant 19th century hotel is perched above lush terraced gardens leading down to the waterfront with its bobbing boats. Guests can dine on local produce in the bright and airy Ettrick Restaurant or in Patterson’s Grill with its bayside views. You can also enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the hotel bar or sip a G&T on the terrace when the weather is fine.
Comfy rooms by the bay
Each of the spacious ensuite rooms includes a seating area, 32-inch flat screen LED TV, hairdryer, phone and tea & coffee maker.
Upgrade to a Classic Seaview Room for peaceful uninterrupted views of Rothesay Bay, or to a Superior Seaview Room for added perks like a DVD player, bottled water and coffee maker.
Explore Rothesay and the Isle of Bute
Although it is only a couple of hours from Glasgow, Bute’s golden beaches, rolling hills and heather-strewn moorlands feel like a whole other world. No wonder holiday makers have been ferrying across the Firth of Clyde to enjoy the scenery since the 19th century.
Why not spend a day exploring Rothesay’s Victorian and Art Deco features, before strolling down the promenade with an ice cream? Plus history buffs will love visiting the ruins of Rothesay Castle, the breathtaking stately home of Mount Stuart and the Kingarth Standing Stones.
Active types can try out the island’s many hiking and biking trails while spotting wildlife like roe deer, seal colonies and brown hares. And don’t forget to hike up Canada Hill to take in the incredible views of the Cowal Peninsula.
