The Parkstone Hotel

Ardayre Road, Central Esplanade, Prestwick

Hotel information

Edwardian seafront property

Converted from a turn-of-the century-mansion, The Parkstone Hotel opened its doors in 1933 and has been family-owned and operated ever since. While it retains a certain Edwardian elegance mixed with 1930s charm, the hotel also has plenty of modern comforts and is undergoing a rolling refurbishment.

Spectacularly located on Prestwick Seafront with views towards Arran and Ailsa Craig, there are plenty of golfing opportunities nearby, including Prestwick Golf Club, Prestwick St. Nicholas and Prestwick St. Cuthbert.

The Parkstone also has a restaurant with panoramic ocean views, a bar lounge, a garden leading to the beach and even a beach beer garden.

It is a short drive from Prestwick rail station, as well as a 45-minute drive from Glasgow and 90 minutes from Edinburgh.

Rooms with views

The majority of the hotel’s 30 ensuite bedrooms overlook the sea, with the remainder facing the gardens. Ground floor rooms are available with disabled access.

All rooms feature free WiFi, a flat screen TV, Scottish Fine Soaps toiletries, a hospitality tray with quality Brodies of Edinburgh products, complimentary mineral water, a hairdryer and a phone. Beds have luxury 1200 pocket sprung mattresses and satin-striped linens.

Dine on local produce

Enjoying panoramic ocean views, the hotel’s Restaurant 33 is committed to uncomplicated, unpretentious cooking. The chefs like to use the very best local produce, all cooked to order.

Menus change regularly but typical main courses might be the pan-fried breast of chicken with Arran haggis, whisky pepper sauce, parsley mash and sautéed vegetables or the smoked haddock gratin with Ayrshire bacon, leeks, creamed potato, poached egg and cheddar. Vegetarians can enjoy dishes such as the vegetable & green lentil lasagne with pesto ciabatta and hand-cut chips.

The hotel’s bar lounge has great views of the coast and even leads onto a beer garden on the beach.

Explore Ayrshire

There is plenty to explore close to The Parkstone Hotel. All of Burns Country is a short drive away and Culzean Castle is easy to reach as well. For a bit of transport history, head to the Scottish Industrial Railway Centre. The Heads of Ayr Farm Park makes for a fun day out, or you could just enjoy a long walk on the beach.

Also, with sixteen golf courses within ten minutes of the hotel, it is difficult to think of a better location for a golfing break. At one end of the esplanade lies Prestwick Old Course, the birthplace of Open Golf, while at the other is Prestwick St. Nicholas.

Ayr racecourse also has a full programme of events.
