Description

Georgian hotel

Situated in the pretty market town of Haddington, just sixteen miles from Edinburgh, Maitlandfield House Hotel is a 17th century Georgian hotel which has been sympathetically extended and modernised.

Attractively decorated and furnished with a bath or shower, the Classic rooms come equipped with digital TV and both hot and cold drinks facilities. There is free WiFi in all public areas of the hotel and the Maitlandfield has plenty of on-site parking.

Local produce

Popular choices include starters such as the hot smoked salmon and prawn timbale from the Belhaven Smokery and main courses along the lines of the corn fed chicken supreme served on a bed of black pudding and new potatoes.

Enjoy the surrounding area

Sometimes called the cradle of golf, East Lothian is a golfers’ paradise. There are at least twenty 18 hole courses within minutes drive and these include famous courses such as Muirfield and North Berwick as well as Musselburgh Links, the world’s oldest course.

Other attractions include watersports; country walks; visiting local farmers’ markets, fishing villages and castles plus the nearby National Museum of Flight where a decommissioned Concorde rests. The Scottish Seabird Centre is a popular attraction as are the local beaches.

Glenkinchie, one of the classic malts, is made at the nearby distillery. The visitor centre is well worth a visit. Alternatively, just relax with a book and a nip in front of the open fire in the hotel’s lounge.
