Fabulous Firth of Forth scenery

The Watchman is a recently refurbished, historic hotel in the pretty coastal village of Gullane. The village is famous for its award-winning unspoilt sandy beach, which is popular with families, dog walkers and kite surfers (plus you might even spot the odd dolphin).

The Watchman also overlooks Gullane Golf Club with a few rooms offering views of the greens. In fact, the hotel is in one of the Scotland’s best golfing hubs, with five courses in the area in total.

Facilities include a cosy dog-friendly bar with a fireplace, restaurant showcasing local cuisine, oak-panelled dining room and beautiful garden.

Refurbished rooms in a heritage setting

Each of the 18 ensuite bathrooms is painted in a striking Farrow & Ball paint colour. Deluxe showers and top-of-the-range beds add extra comfort.

All rooms include a flat screen TV, free WiFi, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities.
If you want to enjoy an extra scenic stay, then you can upgrade to a Golf View or Signature Lookout room.

A celebration of East Lothian cuisine

Guests can dine in various spaces at the hotel, including the Watchman Bar and Restaurant or the more casual oak-panelled Lantern Room. Whichever you choose, you can enjoy dishes that showcase the best local flavours.

The chef’s pride themselves on serving ‘farm to fork’ ingredients with a menu that highlights the bounty of the region.

From locally sourced rib-eye to triple cooked chips to small plates for sharing, there’s something to whet everyone’s appetites and budget.

What’s near to The Watchman?

The hotel is a 12-minute walk from peaceful Gullane Beach, which is loved by everyone from swimmers to sandcastle makers to windsurfers. You will also have the rest of Scotland’s stunning East Coast to explore, including the beach at Yellowcraigs.

The Watchman is also on the famous John Muir Way hiking route stretching from Helensburgh to Dunbar. Plus there is plenty of golfing in the area, including the prestigious Gullane No. 1.

Other East Lothian attractions include Dirleton Village with its 13th century castle, the breathtaking seaside town of North Berwick and the National Museum of Flight. Edinburgh is under an hour’s drive away.
