Highlights

  • Stay in Historic Highland hotel
  • Romantic escape
  • Atmospheric Turrets Restaurant
  • Plenty to see & do nearby

Tulloch Castle is a baronial-style hotel on a forested hillside north of Dingwall. The hotel’s roots go all the way back to the 12th century and it still has the historic features to show for it, including an oak-panelled Great Hall, fireplaces and ceilings. Thankfully, the guest facilities are all thoroughly 21st century.

Charming rooms

Tulloch Castle has twenty en-suite bedrooms, all decorated in a traditional Highland style, and all with their own unique character and charm.

Some have four-poster beds, perfect for an amorous stay, while others are set up for families. You can upgrade to either of these room types for a supplement. Please arrange with the hotel at the time of booking.

All rooms feature direct dial telephones, tea and coffee making facilities, and a laundry service.

Seasonal Scottish cuisine

Only the best, freshly prepared Highland produce is served in the atmospheric Turrets Restaurant. Menus vary according to seasonal availability but expect local beef, venison, haggis and salmon.

Recent highlights have been the starters of duck pate or haggis bonbons, the mains of slow braised feather blade of beef with ox cheek or baked salmon fillet with crushed baby potatoes, and dessert choices that included crème brulee and cheesecake.

You can round off your evening relaxing in front of a warm log fire in the Green Lady Bar while enjoying a fine malt from the vast selection. If you’re lucky, someone might tell you one of the hotel’s many stories.

See & do

Tulloch Castle has a number of nearby attractions, including the town of Dingwall, just a five-minute drive away. You can also take your pick of castles to visit, with Castle Leod, Kilcoy Castle and the remains of Dingwall Castle all close by. Scotland’s oldest whisky distillery, Glen Ord, is a twenty minute drive away and is open for visitors. The River Peffery isn’t far either, should you fancy a waterside stroll.
