Based in the centre of the city on one of its oldest streets, Friars Wynd is a comfy family-run hotel. This former Victorian town house has now been fully renovated with many of its period features restored, creating an atmosphere of historical charm.

The decor is themed around Scotland’s stunning landscapes and its rich literary history, meaning that this is a hotel bursting with national pride. Both Stirling Castle and the main train station are a short walk away, making it a great spot for sightseeing too.

As well as a restaurant area, the hotel has a wine bar with a rustic exposed brick wall and cosy open fire. You can warm yourself in front of it in the evening while enjoying the wide selection of wines, whiskies and gins on offer.

The restaurant at Friars Wynd serves up comfort food classics with a European twist, plus freshly baked, traditional Scottish breads, cakes and pastries from a local bakery. Dishes can change, but expect choices like the 8oz Scottish ribeye steak with chips and a choice of sauce; the rack of lamb with rich red wine jus and buttered new potatoes, and the tomato & brie tart with red onion jam and a peach & quinoa salad.

Breakfast options include a full Scottish breakfast, eggs any way served with a muffin, and local morning rolls.
