Boutique hotel in Stirling

Based in the centre of the city on one of its oldest streets, Friars Wynd is a comfy family-run hotel. This former Victorian town house has now been fully renovated with many of its period features restored, creating an atmosphere of historical charm.

The decor is themed around Scotland’s stunning landscapes and its rich literary history, meaning that this is a hotel bursting with national pride. Both Stirling Castle and the main train station are a short walk away, making it a great spot for sightseeing too.

As well as a restaurant area, the hotel has a wine bar with a rustic exposed brick wall and cosy open fire. You can warm yourself in front of it in the evening while enjoying the wide selection of wines, whiskies and gins on offer.

Individually designed bedrooms

All of the hotel’s eight ensuite guest rooms are decorated in a cheerful style with modern furnishings.

Typical facilities include a desk, free WiFi, flat screen TV with cable and satellite channels; tea & coffee making facilities, telephone and an iron with ironing board.

Room service is also available.

Dine on classic cuisine

The restaurant at Friars Wynd serves up comfort food classics with a European twist, plus freshly baked, traditional Scottish breads, cakes and pastries from a local bakery. Other Scottish produce such as Luvians ice cream, Knockraich Farm natural yoghurt and premium cheeses also feature on the menu.

Dishes can change, but expect choices like the 8oz Scottish ribeye steak with chips and a choice of sauce; the rack of lamb with rich red wine jus and buttered new potatoes, and the tomato & brie tart with red onion jam and a peach & quinoa salad.

Breakfast options include a full Scottish breakfast, eggs any way served with a muffin, and local morning rolls.

Explore Stirlingshire

There are a multitude of things to keep you busy in and around the city, including historical sights, shopping opportunities and distilleries.

Local attractions include Stirling Castle, Deanston Distillery and Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum. Blair Drummond Safari Park is a short drive away.
