    Saturday early evening

We had the £50 offer which was great value for money and really great food and drinks.

    Lovely Tapas

We ate here on a Sunday night at 7pm, the restaurant was not particularly busy. The atmosphere was good and the service was excellent, I believe that it would be great on a busy night. The food was excellent, the ribs in particular I would recommend but everything was tasty. I have eaten tapas in Spain and this was as good as many restaurants there.

Popular Spanish restaurant in Leith

Situated in a refurbished warehouse building, Tapa is an atmospheric Spanish tapas restaurant on Shore Place in Edinburgh’s Leith. The welcoming, vaulted interior combines a classic bodega feel with traditional Spanish colours, old film posters, exposed stone and fairy lights wrapped around iron pillars. Friendly staff make for a relaxed atmosphere. A good selection of Spanish gins and sherries complements a wine list which draws on both the finest and other, less known and sometimes under appreciated, Spanish grape varietals.

Authentic Spanish tapas

The Head Chef is from Seville and likes to combine authentic Spanish cooking with culinary innovation. Top quality Spanish ingredients – especially free range Pata Negra pigs – and the best of Scotland’s larder are cleverly mixed to create imaginative tapas at Tapa. The menu ranges from familiar favourites such as chorizo in red wine to more exotic options such as the griddled Galician octopus on a creamed leek sauce.

Staff recommendations include the aubergine crisps drizzled with honey; the morcilla black pudding topped with a fried quail’s egg and the wonderfully nutty presa cut, taken from Iberian Black Pigs. The latter is griddled medium rare and glazed with a red wine reduction. The vegetarian choices are just as impressive. Tapa is adept at catering to all dietary requirements. Advance notice is appreciated for the most complex.

Leith & north Edinburgh transport links
