Opened in the spring of 2016, The Spiritualist is a stylish restaurant and bar in the building that once housed Stirling’s Library. Inspired by the Art Deco movement and hung with vintage portraits, the decor is as sleek as it is contemporary. A stunning drinks list features Scottish craft beers; a globe-trotting selection of spirits; a well balanced wine list and many innovative and attractively presented cocktails. A unique Chef’s Table in the kitchen is a real talking point.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, The Spiritualist’s menus range from a bowl of apple pie porridge through gourmet lunchtime baguettes to exquisite dinners. Prime Scottish ingredients such as Simon Howie beef, Shetland mussels and lobster are all prominent.
Some dishes like, the beef Wellington starter are traditional, British classics. Others, like the lobster burger with mango chutney or the pork fillet marinated in mustard and served with pan-fried cauliflower are more exotic. The Sunday roasts and keenly priced pre-theatre menus are added attractions.
The Spiritualist is on Miller Street, on the border of the Merchant City, tucked away between Ingram Street and Argyle Street. It is around a five minute walk to both Central and Queen Street train stations. The nearest subway is Buchanan Street. There is a car park on Glassford Street. Local attractions include the Gallery of Modern Art and the shops of Buchanan Street.
