Malaysian Chinese restaurant in West End

Banana Leaf is on Byres Road in Glasgow’s West End. A sophisticated Malaysian Chinese restaurant, it has a stylish lounge area for pre-dinner drinks, cocktails and digestifs. The dining room enjoys flatteringly dim lighting and a feature wall decorated with a banana leaf pattern. Banana Leaf is smart and intimate but offers a relaxed atmosphere and friendly welcome whether you are visiting for a date or a family dinner. There is a city centre branch on Cambridge Street.

Happy mix of Malaysian and Chinese cooking

An exciting and ever evolving hybrid of Malaysian and Chinese culinary traditions, the menus at the Banana Leaf have much to offer both novices and old hands. Well-known dishes such as chicken satay skewers, roti, nasi goreng and rendang beef curries sit beside more exotic options such as the sizzling venison hot plate or the roasted duck slices stuffed with prawn and chicken and served with a plum sauce. There are plenty of interesting veggie and vegan options.

A lunch offer, early evening menu, group menus, a campus menu and a separate rice and noodle menu all operate along with the a la carte. The staff are always happy to help with navigation.

West End transport links

Banana Leaf is at the Partick end of Byres Road. There is limited on street parking. Kelvinhall subway station is a two minute walk while Hillhead is a five minute stroll. The nearest railway station is Partick. Glasgow University, Kelvin Hall and Kelvingrove Museum are within easy walking distance.
