After the success of its Barrowlands restaurant, Van Winkle Bourbon, BBQ & Grill is now offering up fresh Kentucky flavours and classic comfort food in the West End.
Inside, the stripped wooden tables and hanging bulbs will whisk you off to a land of bluegrass, moonshine and bourbon on the rocks. On sunnier days, you can soak up the vibe in the beer garden. Your pooch is very welcome too — in fact, there is even a special menu for dogs developed by Ross Allan from the BBC’s Pets‘n’Vets.
Diners can tuck into a selection of burgers, wings, waffles, tacos and more, washed down with a drinks menu of bourbons, cocktails and beers.
Highlights include Southern fried chicken breast waffles topped with Van Winkle gravy and maple syrup, or the philly cheese steak sandwich smothered with Van Winkle sauce. Veggies can sample the five cheese macaroni with a grana padano and panko crumb.
If you’re up for a challenge, you could also try the epic Van Winkle Monster Burger with 12oz steak patties, bourbon BBQ pulled pork, streaky bacon, melted cheddar, onion rings, burger sauce, shredded lettuce and gherkins. Good luck!
This branch of Van Winkle is ideally placed at that point where the city centre, West End and Finnieston meet.
Both Kelvingrove Park and the Mitchell Library are just a stroll away, as is the King’s Theatre and The Garage. The nearest train station is Charing Cross.
