• First opened in 1925, The Pompadour restaurant was the jewel in the crown of what was then simply known as the Caledonian Hotel.

• Almost a hundred years later, Chef Dean Banks, a former MasterChef: The Professionals finalist, has taken over one of Edinburgh’s most iconic restaurants, and you can enjoy a spectacular five or seven course meal with this Big Deal.

Tasting lunch or dinner

• Dean Banks at The Pompadour is as famed for its cuisine as it is for its dining room, having earned three AA Rosettes and being Michelin-recommended.

• The five course tasting lunch is available from noon, Friday to Sunday. Although menus may be subject to change, expect the following:

• Snacks
• Beef tartare
• Market fish, kimchi & kombu dashi
• London Oscietra Caviar
• Braised pork shoulder with carrot & ginger
• Mango & passionfruit parfait with maple comb & yoghurt

• The seven course tasting dinner is available from 5pm ‘til 6.30pm from Thursday to Sunday, and may include the following options:

• Snacks
• Smoked Arbroath smokie
• Glazed sweetbread
• Plancha market fish
• Roasted roe deer
• Frozen bergamot
• Baked cocoa

• ‘Brilliant welcome and had a table looking out over Edinburgh Castle – stunning. Not rushed in the slightest when looking over the menus, we were in for the tasting menu… Every course was lovely and it was all explained to us on arrival at the table – the staff have fantastic memories to recall every ingredient. Can’t find any fault at all place – surroundings, food, drinks all fantastic, but the staff must get the best mention. Very very friendly and talkative, nothing too much hassle and we will definitely return. 5 stars.’
